Individual Counseling

Counseling

Sometimes, we all just need a trustworthy, neutral 3rd party to help us through a difficult situation . . . nothing long-term, just a few visits. We are happy to provide individual counseling for these situations.

Therapy

Other times, we need somebody to help us look deeper into ourselves. . .to help us stay honest and focused, motivated, etc. These deeper looks into our past, present, our 'selves,' sometimes takes a little more time. We will compassionately and patiently work with you to discover what you are looking for and how you can use that understanding to find happiness and comfort.

Self-Mastery Coaching

Finally, there are those who are already in a rather comfortable place and do not need any serious 'therapy' or intervention. . . very often, these people are looking how to take their already pleasant lives to the next level. We are happy to work with people from a 'coaching' perspective in an effort to help them realize their full potential for happiness and comfort.

Rates

Rates are $100 for the initial interview where I will gather historical information, presenting issues and goals, and develop an individualized treatment plan with you. Sessions thereafter are $100 per full-session (45 minutes), $150 per extended-session (80 minutes), or $60 per half-session (30 minutes). Group therapy rates are $40 per ninety-minute session.

Insurance policy

I believe that deep personal transformation is best achieved outside of managed care companies that limit both your privacy and the interventions available to you. I will provide receipts for out-of-network insurance reimbursement and/or for reimbursement through your cafeteria/flex plan (usually with your employer).

I am in the process of moving away from managed care (insurance) and towards private-pay clients only. Many successful, established mental health professionals do not join or remain on insurance panels for three reasons. First, the in-network filing process usually requires a significant breach of client confidentiality. To meet the requirements for in-network reimbursement, I must submit an official client diagnosis and an ongoing progress report, treatment plan, etc. This requires me to divulge personal information about clients, which then becomes part of his or her permanent medical record (potentially driving up client insurance rates and creating problematic 'pre-existing conditions'). Second, there is a great deal of paperwork to submit for in-network benefits, which takes time and energy away from my focus on your needs. Third, insurance panel fee schedules are well below national averages, and are therefore not ideal for established professionals. Because of these considerations, the majority of mental health professionals who choose to become in-network providers are either just beginning their clinical practice, have only a part-time practice, or find it difficult to sustain their full-time practice client load.

I currently accept only Value Options, Magellan, and Medicaid, as well as private pay clients. Other insurance companies may offer out-of-network coverage. I will provide you with information necessary to submit your claim for reimbursement, however you are responsible for the session fee at the time of service. Your insurance provider will then reimburse you per your coverage and benefits plan. Not all mental health services are covered by some out-of-network programs, make sure to check your benefits first.
