Only fully-licensed professionals accept insurance at the Gate. Each individual LPC is covered on different carriers. This creates a great cross-referral set up for in house care with our team
Individual, Couples and Family Counseling and Therapy Rates
45 minute sessions
Session by Jonathan = $100 (90-minute session = $175)
Jonathan is a fully-licensed professional counselor, and LPC Supervisor. He brings 13 years of post-graduate training (MA from University of Minnesota) and experience to his practice. He opened The Gate in 2000, and began his professional service career in college, at the University of Texas - Austin in 1990.
LPC-Interns have completed graduate school and only have to complete their post-graduate experience to receive full-license status. These intern-licensed professionals are carefully selected by Jonathan in limited numbers. To ensure the highest level of comptent care, clinical supervision is held weekly with all interns seeing clients. Sliding scale available upon proof of financial hardship.
Practicum Students are graduate (Master's level) students in their final semesters of study--their next step is the LPC-Intern status. Pro bono [free] sessions, and sliding scale available upon proof of financial hardship.
These talented LPC-Interns and Practicum Students perform sessions under the supervision Jonathan F. Anderson, MA, LPC-S. Sessions, at your request, may be conducted by Jonathan, or with him present. At the beginning of the initial session, you will review your rights, including confidentiality (please see the Forms Page and review the Informed Consent and HIPAA documents).
You can expect to talk about your history, your current situation, and various thought and behavior patterns. Each counselor or practicum student will have their own unique style and methods. Rest assured that whether you are working directly with Jonathan, or with one of The Gate interns/practicum students, your experience will be held to the highest standards of ethical care.

Group Counseling and Group Therapy Rates
Typically $40 per 90 minute group session.
Some groups co-facilitated by LPC-interns/Practicum students offered at sliding scale.

*Insurance
Jonathan currently accepts Blue Cross/Blue Shield HMO (Magellan), Value Options, Life Sync, ComPsych, and Medicaid insurance. Be sure to call your mental health insurance number to obtain: preauthorization, deductible information (if applicable) , copay/co-insurance amount/session, and information about how many sessions you can obtain per year.
For Private Pay clients, I am happy to provide a receipt for services rendered that you can submit for HSA (health savings account), cafeteria/flex plan reimbursement or for reimbursement through your out-of-network benefits (please call your behavioral health carrier to check benefits for Out-of-Network, Outpatient Mental Health coverage information).
I believe that deep personal transformation is best achieved when you know that your privacy is safe and your that personal information stays with me alone (with the exceptions required by HIPAA law). However, for many, having personal information available to insurance companies will not be a privacy issue of concern. If I am not in-network with your behavioral health insurance program, I will provide the necessary receipts for you to submit for reimbursement.
