Meet Buddy. Meet Buddy. He’s 11 months old, male (neutered), Basenji mix (probably lab, heeler, or shepherd, maybe some of each, but mostly Basenji). He’s really laid back and relaxed, but at playtime, he is definitely playful (and I’m sure as he gets settled in this’ll pick up), and is really comfortable and calm around kids, no agitation at all with em. Great on the leash (I think I’ve got him started heeling, he already sits and stays for a bit, working on ‘down.’). I’m getting him obedience training and plan on having him tested to see if he meets Delta Society standards for temperament (which is looking good so far), obedience, etc to see if I can get him trained up as a therapy dog. I’d do some volunteering, too, at the local Children’s Hospital too (he’s really that good so far).

Buddy n me on day one!

There is no life in past/future. Only in the Now. How to bring life to past/future? Learn from past, plan for future. Think I got that from @BabaRamDass

From “Here” to “Still” to “Love” @BabaRamDass has taken a quiet journey of Now-ness in his 3 books. More at: http://ow.ly/3buKt

A beautiful thing happened across the past 40 years. Ram Dass started being “Here,” then after his Fierce Grace of a stroke, he continued with “Still” Here (I like the stillness interpretation of the title, and the persistence interpretation), and now has spoken to the being of “Love” now.

From Here, to Still, to Love . . . all of it just be-ing.
Nice.

Technology should serve us, not the other way around. I’m learning this can be a paradox in and of itself! WordPress, hootsuite, twitter, fb

For reasons like genetics, conditioning (how you were raised, influences from important people, etc), and our environment/history, people see reality through distorted ‘lenses.’

So, if we cannot get rid of the lenses to see more clearly, sometimes we can add corrective ones. This is about learning how to choose your thoughts, how to pick your behaviors, and how to know when to leave well enough alone.

The number one way to set the stage for this? Meditation. Do a search (to the right) on ‘Meditation’ and read the posts. Contact me on how to go to the next level.

Can we choose reality? Depends on what you call ‘reality.’ We cannot choose to have gravity not exist. We cannot choose for photosynthesis to not happen in a living plant. But. . .

We can choose how to behave, and even how/what to think (of course, some things feel very automated, usually driven from our unconscious mind). We can choose to be present in a moment of joy while sitting alone, or we can share that joy with other people; either way is fine. That you can choose your reality by choosing behaviors, is a very powerful realization. Behaviors are driven by thoughts, so by becoming mindful of thoughts, you can better choose your thoughts–including changing them when you need to. It takes practice though.

Self mastery is a gift you can give to yourself–and it spreads to others. Give freely.

Ok, so how to do that? Meditation, breath-work, exercise, healthy lifestyle choices are all good places to start–but consistent practice of these is essential.

Once again, who says we need to follow the rules set by traditional cliches? If you’ve made your bed, and you don’t like what you see you don’t have to ‘lie in it.’ You can put on new sheets, get a new bed, you can go outside and take a walk.

But if you do make your bed, do it mindfully–with a positive intention. Allow cliches to serve you, not bind you.
